The fanciful world of John Titor
I've wanted to write a John Titor post for a while but never had a context in which to do so. So you may be asking just who exactly is John Titor. Back in the winter of 2000 a man began posting on message boards claiming to be a time traveler. Crazy I know and usually these types can be shrugged off without a second thought. But his story is different.
Specifically certain things he said that are starting to come true. I should give a little background for those who will not follow the link (*ahem* follow the link, good read). Titor claims to be from the year 2036. His world is vastly different from which the world we live today. He explains that the reason he came back was to obtain a computer that was not manufactuered after the 1970s. The reason being? According to him there was a second American civil war that began in 2004 right before the election. It was small at first but flared up to extreme levels over the next 11 years. During this time the middle east problem destablized into all out war with the Arab states, Israel and the fundementalists all dukeing it out because America was too busy with its internal conflict. Due to this China and Russia decided to take a power grab and started invading countries in their parts of the world. This all came down to what in his words describes as a "short world war" involving nuclear weapons and the destruction of the great american cities. After that the side John fought on, the ruruals, won and setup a new american republic and started rebuilding/cleaning up. Thus the need to go back in time to get a computer that could run the functions of certain older power plants.
Scary stuff I know and a little far fetched. But consider where the world was just four short years ago. Things were not perfect but the war had not began. Republicans were not in power pushing their new version of "Manifest Destiny" upon the world. Which is why looking back retrospectively his post concerning how the second american civil war and world war III began is quite prophetic:
You only have to turn on the television to see this in action. From my own view I have seen this country more polarized that ever before. It is completly split in two and both sides are willing to die for what they believe in if it is challenged. Even my parents, who lived threw the sixities when the country nearly came to civil war, say that they have never seen it this bad.
Reading his stories I wondered to myself what exactly would set everything off. Would it be a repeat of what happened in 2000 with a large part of the black vote not being counted? Would it be a terrorist attack and the following marshall law? No way to be sure or even if its true. This evening however I came across a story in which it was announced a International team is going to monitor the upcoming presidential election. Normally this would just be a story that was kind of interesting and could be ignored, but not in America. You see Americans believe no one does democracy better than us, oh, and we're better than everyone. Personally I don't think this way but there are many people who do. So as I surfed around I came upon another link regarding the story. It was from the freerepublic.com. A site which is chock full of Bush supporters and believe everything he does is right, including his stupid wars, and will defend him to the death. When I read their comments a chill went down my spine. Maybe Titor's story was more than just interesting but true.
Here is a fine example of the "ugly americanism" at hand:
I fear for my country. Despite the fact Titor's story may just be fantasy this is not a good sign. Things are on edge as it is and it will only take a few acts of stupidity to tip it to complete insanity. On the flip side the tale offers up hope. In his posts he speaks that even though its wonderful to be in a time not ravaged by war he woudln't want to live here. That in his time things are better from a human perspective and getting better by the day.
It reminds me of the stories I've heard from people who survived World War II. Few were untouched by that war and entire countries were destroyed. But we survived and look what we have been able to accomplish in 60 years. If things come to pass as Mr. Titor suggests I weep for my fellow man. But I also look forward to the future....

- Does the current relationship between Arabs and Jews have anything to do with the coming war?
Real disruptions in world events begin with the destabilization of the West as a result of degrading US foreign policy and consistency. This becomes apparent around 2004 as civil unrest develops near the next presidential election. The Jewish population in Israel is not prepared for a true offensive war. They are prepared for the ultimate defense. Wavering western support for Israel is what gives Israel's neighbors the confidence to attack. The last resort for a defensive Israel and its offensive Arab neighbors is to use weapons of mass destruction. In the grand scheme of things, the war in the Middle East is a part of what's to come, not the cause.

If I see one BLUE HELMET ..... No threat - just a promise!
they do not have to be wearing the helmets or uniforms (then they are illegal agents) either.
